According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), infection leading to sepsis and septic shock is currently one of the leading causes of pregnancy-related death in the United States. Many hospital units do not have standardized screening tools and management protocols for maternal sepsis. This session will outline how to define, recognize, and manage maternal sepsis and septic shock according to best practice and current evidence. In addition, team training and a checklist for sepsis will be discussed.
